Pure Talent Sports Ministry Founder/CEO Michael Birmingham is a native of Kansas City Kansas. While growing up in Kansas City, Birmingham excelled in athletics as a baseball, basketball, and football player. Doing the early years of life Birmingham was severely pigeon toed and bow-legged requiring him to wear braces on his legs such as Forrest Gump and caused him to travel to St. Louis, MO every summer to the Shriners hospital for treatment and therapy and at the young age of 10 he partook in a surgical procedure to straighten out his legs in order to allow him to walk normally as the other kids. Because of GOD's purpose and the grace of GOD, Birmingham was determined to be the best athlete he could possibly be despite his handicap. By the conclusion of his senior year, Birmingham had been identified as the best three sport athlete in the Kansas City Kansas area by the Kansas City Kansan newspaper and was highly touted in basketball and baseball, attracting interest from schools such as KU, Arkansas, Miami, Oral Roberts, Tulsa, and Oklahoma State. Birmingham decided to travel south on I-35 to Stillwater but due to a shoulder injury was re-routed to Butler County Community College in El Dorado, KS where he was slated to play basketball and baseball for the grizzlies until he traveled north to NCAA D-III powerhouse, Wartburg College. He immediately contributed on the basketball court and the baseball diamond landing him in the top 10 in the nation in saves on the baseball diamond. Birmingham concluded his athletic eligibility at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff where he helped the Golden Lions piece together the schools best record in baseball since the conception of the program. While still completing undergraduate school work, Birmingham signed a professional baseball contract with the Kansas City T-Bones of the independent Northern league of baseball. Birmingham began his coaching career at the age of 19 in Kansas City and has since shared his knowledge at the high school and collegiate levels in baseball, basketball, and football. Birmingham currently resides in Pine Bluff, AR where he serves as a full time deputy for the local sheriff's department. 15 Kevin Edwards 07/18/90 - 11/29/09
